One of the main barriers coaches face in their ongoing development is the cost of coaching courses and training to continually learn and develop themselves in their chosen sport(s).
Coaching Northumberland recognises this is a key area where we need to support coaches and we have been able to develop a bursary scheme to support young coaches aged 16-25 years within our county.
The scheme is part of Northumberland Sports ‘Bringing the Games Closer’ project which aims to bring the spirit and excitement of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games closer to Northumberland.
The set levels of awards are:
- Level 1 Coaching Award: £100 (or £200 enhanced grant)
- Level 2 Coaching Award: £200 (or £400 enhanced grant)
Whilst we acknowledge that this scheme does not support coaches over the age of 25 at present we do not have a specific fund that distributes buraries to this age group.
There are funds however that your club or organisation may be eligible to apply to that would support the development of coaches they are listed in the Northumberland Sport Funding pages.
Whilst we continue to source funding to support coaches in Northumberland particularly at present through the young coach bursary scheme coaches must be informed that funding is limited.
